An AI copilot is only valuable if it fits naturally into how people actually work. This sounds obvious, but it's where many AI products stumble. They solve a real problem in theory but disrupt the flow of how people work in practice — requiring extra steps, context-switching, or changes to habits that users aren't willing to make.
The trap is designing around the ideal scenario where users come to your product first, ready and willing. Real users have existing tools, existing habits, and existing workflows. Your copilot lands in the middle of all of that. If it requires users to interrupt their current process, re-enter information they already have in another tool, or learn a new mental model mid-task — adoption will be low, regardless of how good the AI output is.
