Onboarding for an AI product is different from onboarding for conventional software — and most builders design it the same way. Conventional onboarding teaches users where things are and how to use them. AI onboarding has a more fundamental job: it needs to close the trust gap. Users arrive with uncertainty about whether they can rely on the AI. They don't know how good it is, what to do when it's wrong, or how to use it effectively. Until you address that, feature discovery doesn't matter.
