An MVP is a minimum viable product — not a minimum viable version of your ideal product. The difference matters. An MVP's job is to test your most important assumptions with the minimum investment required. If what you're planning to build would still take six months and a large team, it might not actually be an MVP.
This exercise asks you to pressure-test your current MVP definition against what an MVP is actually for. What are you trying to learn? What's the fastest and cheapest way to learn it? Does every element you're planning to include directly serve that learning goal — or have you already started adding things that feel necessary but aren't?
