The core user journey is the end-to-end path a user takes from first encountering your product to getting the value it promises. Mapping it in full — not just the happy path, but the decision points, the alternatives, and the moments where things could go wrong — is one of the most clarifying exercises in product planning.
Most founders focus on the core functionality and underinvest in the edges: how does a user first discover the product, what happens when they first arrive, how do they find their way to the key moments, and how do they return after their first session? These edges are where most products lose users — not in the core experience.
