Three levers, one product

Every product project is shaped by three forces that pull against each other.

Time — how long you can spend before you have to ship something.

Cost — how much money, attention, or effort you can pour into the work.

Scope — how much the product actually does.

These three are bound together. You can change one only at the expense of another. Want more scope without more time? You need more cost. Want less cost without less scope? You need more time. There’s no version where all three move freely at once.

Most founders feel this intuitively but don’t make the trade-offs explicit. That’s where the trouble usually starts.
