Two words people use interchangeably — and shouldn’t
If you talk to enough founders, you’ll notice they often use “opportunity” and “solution” as if they mean the same thing.
They don’t. And confusing the two is one of the quieter reasons promising projects end up stuck.
A solution is something you’re going to build. An opportunity is a gap in the world that something could fill. Solutions are answers. Opportunities are open questions.
Most early-stage founders move too quickly from the second to the first. They see something interesting and immediately start designing what to build, before they’ve really understood what they’re looking at.
Slowing that move down — even just a little — changes the quality of everything that comes after.
