How to stand out when AI makes everything easier to build

Building isn’t the bottleneck anymore

For most of software’s history, building was the hard part. Most ideas didn’t get made because making them required teams, money, and time that most founders didn’t have.

That’s changed. With modern AI tools, almost any reasonable product idea can be prototyped in days and shipped in weeks. The cost of building has collapsed. So has the time.

That’s wonderful for founders. It also means that being able to build is no longer enough.

If everyone can build, what makes one product win and another disappear? The answer is no longer “code.” It’s a smaller, harder set of qualities — distribution, depth, trust, taste, and clarity — that AI doesn’t hand you for free.
