Your first usage data is the most unfiltered view you'll ever have of how people actually experience your product. Before they know your product well, before they've adapted their behaviour to work around it, before they've been through onboarding enough times to know the shortcuts — that first cohort of users is showing you the raw reality.
The temptation is to explain away what you see. "That drop-off is just because it was early." "Those users weren't really the right target." "The data is too small to be meaningful." Some of that might be true. But the instinct to explain away uncomfortable data is one of the most reliable ways to miss the most important signals at exactly the right moment.
