Choose the metrics worth watching closely

Numbers don't tell the truth on their own. Pick the small set that matters — and focus there.

After launch, it's easy to track too many things. You set up analytics, you add dashboards, you check five different numbers every morning. The result is that no single metric tells you anything clear — each one is surrounded by enough noise that you can explain away any result you don't like. More metrics don't mean more clarity. They usually mean less.

The most useful thing you can do at this stage is pick one number that honestly captures whether your product is creating value, and commit to it. Not as a permanent measure — it will evolve. But for this phase, this is the number. Everything else is context for it.
